  • Product Introduction

A mud centrifuge, also known as a horizontal screw discharge sedimentation centrifuge or simply a mud centrifuge, is a specialized piece of equipment designed specifically for solid-liquid separation in oil drilling fluids. It can efficiently perform all processing steps—such as feeding, centrifugal settling, and discharge—even while operating at full speed. Primarily used for recovering barite, removing fine solids, and reducing the overall solids content in drilling fluids, this equipment plays a crucial role in controlling the density and viscosity of drilling fluids, ensuring optimal fluid performance, and ultimately supporting efficient and rapid drilling operations.

A centrifuge separates drilling mud suspensions using the principle of centrifugal sedimentation. The suspension enters the rotating drum through a feed pipe and exits via liquid discharge ports in the screw conveyor. Under the influence of centrifugal force, solid particles are pushed toward the inner wall of the drum and then gradually moved toward the small-end discharge port by the blades on the screw conveyor, where they are expelled as solids. Meanwhile, the liquid phase flows out through overflow ports at the large end of the drum. This process repeats continuously, enabling efficient, continuous separation. The sedimentation-type centrifuge falls under the category of horizontal screw centrifuges and is officially known as a horizontal screw sedimentation centrifuge. These horizontal sedimentation mud centrifuges are widely used in the oil drilling industry.
