Liquid-gas separator

  • Product Description
  • Product Introduction

A liquid-gas separator is an essential mud-gas separator used in drilling operations. When drilling fluid experiences gas invasion, its specific gravity and viscosity significantly deviate, failing to meet the requirements for efficient drilling. In severe cases, if not addressed promptly, this can lead to well kicks—or even blowout incidents. Combining the drilling fluid liquid-gas separator with an electronic ignition device ensures the smooth progression of the drilling process.

The liquid-gas separator is an excellent mud-gas separation device. Drilling fluid containing entrained gas enters the separator tangentially through the inlet port, flows along the inner wall, and then lands onto a specially designed series of internal baffles, where it collides, increasing its exposed surface area before continuing to descend. This turbulent flow facilitates the separation of gas from the drilling fluid. The free gas is discharged through the gas outlet at the top of the separator—whose length is determined and matched according to site conditions—and routed safely away, while the degassed drilling fluid is directed into the circulation tank.

The Y-shaped fitting features a spherical seat that allows for an offset or angular adjustment of 7.5 degrees off-center, with a total offset capability of 15 degrees. In addition to the steel-to-steel mating interface, the NBR rubber 0-ring ensures airtight sealing at any offset position. Recommended for high-pressure pipeline connections where alignment is not possible, this fitting is suitable for applications involving air, water, oil, slurry, or gases.

The bimetal cylinder liner consists of two layers of metal: an outer layer made of high-quality carbon steel, and an inner layer crafted from a high-chromium, wear-resistant alloy iron. After heat treatment, the inner sleeve achieves a hardness of HRC62 or higher, with a smooth, mirror-like inner surface and tightly controlled dimensional tolerances. Typically, it can deliver a service life of over 800 hours.
